My name is B.T. Polistes, the one-and-only artist, author, and arthropod behind this website you see here. I've lived in the northern quadrant of Great River city for the past 20 years, where I studied all manner of arts among my numerous illustrious colleagues. Currently, I live with a human friend of mine who is helping me publish my first novel aimed at a vertebrate audience.
But that's not really the truth.
I am not B.T. Polites, because B.T. Polistes is not a real person. They are a persona, and to some extent this should be obvious: this website was not made by a literal insect. But for any persona, it can become difficult to see what is authentic and what is artificial; which opinions reflect the author and what is just playing a character. To make things clear and to make sure we’re on the same page, I decided to have one page where I drop the character and speak frankly. And now to answer some basic questions-
<>
Is the blog/book ghostwritten?
No. I am the sole author under this persona, and the sole owner of the character. Everything on this blog was written and illustrated by myself, and as of yet I have no collaborators or sponsors. My face and name may not be visible, but there’s only one human behind this project.
Is the book real?
The book is a real, fully-drafted piece of literature, and will hopefully be available sometime in the future. Posts about the book are meant to be informative and will only contain factual information regarding the work. More information will come as that project progresses.
Is this in-universe roleplay?
I suppose? I am definintely writing as a character, and I am willing to roleplay with others to a certain extent. The lore behind B.T. Polistes is based on the world of my novel, but certainly not canon to it; the world of the book and the website should be considered seperate. I do appreciate those who take the time to interact in-character, but it's just for fun and not a requirement to get a response from me.
